The Garibaldi Inn is shown on an 1876 Ordinance Survey map of the local area, as seen below.
It is also widely recognised that Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807 – 1882), the Italian patriot stayed at nearby Cliveden House in 1864. So it is likely the Garibaldi was founded sometime between 1864 and 1876. Prior to this one of the houses up the road was reputed to have been the local pub.
